We are looking for a campsite!

A campsite in Switzerland is currently being sought for Roverway 2028. Suggestions for campsites, including details of location, size, special infrastructure or other information, can be sent directly to Stephan Tschudi / blofi . The general conditions and more details can be provided on request.

What is Roverway?

The Roverway is an international scout camp for Rovers (aged 16 to 22) from all over Europe.

The camp usually consists of two parts, the so-called Paths and a main camp. During the first few days, the participants split up into small groups and set off on a path of their own choosing. These paths can be spread all over the country. In the second half of the camp, all participants come together in a main camp and have the opportunity to exchange ideas there.

The last Roverway took place in Norway in 2024 and lasted eleven days. Around 5500 scouts took part.

Switzerland as host country

Switzerland has a long tradition of international scout camps. The first "Moot" was held in Kandersteg in 1931. The world centres "Our Chalet" and the "KISC" have contributed to Switzerland's international presence for decades.

In 2022, the largest scout camp in Switzerland to date was organised: the Federal Camp (BuLa) with 35,000 participants and 5,500 volunteers - a great success, also in ecological terms. Important lessons learnt included the importance of mental health and balanced language and cultural representation at a scout camp. The Swiss Scouts would like to use this wealth of experience to organise and further develop the next Roverway.

Despite many positive aspects, there are challenges - particularly in terms of logistics, financing, the tight time frame and personnel planning.

Nature

Mountains, lakes, forests and valleys invite you to enjoy sporting activities in the water and on land. Switzerland has national hiking, cycling, skating, mountain biking and canoeing routes.

Culture & Customs

Switzerland has many living traditions; culture and customs are actively celebrated both in the cities and in the countryside. There are many museums, fascinating architecture and countless cultural activities depending on the region.

Public Transport

Swiss trains are known worldwide for their cleanliness and punctuality. For the transport of large groups, special trains are used and seats are reserved.

The Swiss train network is very well developed and even peripheral villages can be reached by train, continuing by postbus or bus to the remotest villages. Trains and buses often run every half hour or hour.

Hiking

Switzerland is a hiker's paradise. There are more than 65,000 kilometres of well-marked hiking trails. There are various levels of difficulty, from hiking in the flatlands to via ferratas and alpine routes.

Hiking trails often lead past alpine cheese dairies, mountain huts, historical sites or viewpoints and there are always opportunities to stop for refreshments along the way.

Was gibt es wohl zu Essen?

Culinary delights

In addition to world-famous Swiss cheese and chocolate, Switzerland has numerous regional delicacies to offer. From potato rösti and polenta to fruit cake, there is a wide range of Swiss national dishes.

Of course, you can also watch chocolate or cheese being made - and taste it.

Linguistic variety and diversity

Switzerland has four official national languages, which are spoken in the different regions of Switzerland. Openness, acceptance and friendliness are part of the Swiss DNA. Only in this way can different cultures live together harmoniously in one country.

Scouting in Switzerland

The Swiss Guide and Scout Movement (SGSM) is the only national Scout organisation in Switzerland. Some local groups are religiously orientated, but the SGSM as a whole is denominationally neutral.

With over 50,000 members, the SGSM is the largest children's and youth organisation in Switzerland. It consists of 22 cantonal associations and 530 local groups, spread across all language regions (German, French, Italian, Romansh).

Around 200 volunteers are involved at federal level, supported by an office in Bern. The SGSM lives by the motto " Learned is learnt" - it promotes early responsibility and skills that are also helpful in professional life.
